Description
Over the past decade, the University of Colorado embarked on a journey from a completely reactive shop with no visibility or connections to fundraisers to being a strategic partner. We leveraged new policies and procedures, increased our visibility with leadership, gave our development colleagues access to more resources and tools (and training) to empower them, and freed up our time for projects we couldn’t have even dreamed of before. This presentation will use examples to show how we did this at a project level and also how we achieved the advocacy necessary for the new direction. It also includes some advice for building relationships with gift officers and tips for saying “no” and setting good boundaries for your work.
Presented by: Katie Princo is a Development Research Analyst at the University of Colorado. Her favorite research projects have included building an annual parent prospecting pipeline process, working with our medical campus on prospect identification practices, completing mini-campaign analyses, and preparing profiles and research on amazing prospects. Before that, she worked on the CU Boulder campus as part of the College of Music Advancement team, coordinating in-house research and stewardship and managing two annual giving programs. She received her Master’s in Music Composition from the University of Colorado in 2013 and a Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Michigan. During her spare time she enjoys playing piano and organ, cooking, reading, and watching murder mysteries.
