Friday Session: Managing Through Staff Transitions

12:00 CST

Participants will learn how to manage portfolios through various types of staff transitions – and even what to do when you don’t really have any major gift staff to transition relationships too. We’ll talk about the importance of a good policy, communication with your team and there will be plenty of memes to keep us laughing as I recount how we dealt with a year of significant turnover that pretty much left us with no MGOs for a period of time.

Presenter: Marissa Todd

Marissa has been working in non-profit and higher education fundraising for over a decade. Although she has dabbled in prospect development since 2008, she really found her passion for the profession at her first Apra conference in 2014. Since then, Marissa has focused on developing and growing small shops, first in higher education and now at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. She is very involved with Apra, starting with service to the Apra Mo/Kan Chapter with conference planning and eventually serving as president. She began serving on the Apra board in 2019. She has also presented at several conferences and loves to share her passion for prospect development with anyone who will listen.

Marissa earned her BA and JD from the University of Missouri and her MBA from Stephens College. In her free time, Marissa likes to experiment with cooking and wine, devour books and cheer on her favorite sports teams. She also likes to plan adventures with her husband, Michael, and snuggle up on the couch with their cats, Artie and Faurot.
